Lifeway’s Breaker Rock Beach Curriculum is rich with engaging lessons and activities that keep the kids active and involved in each station. However, one size does not always fit all when it comes to VBS! Sometimes additional activities are in order—maybe for some extra engagement during snack time or dinner; perhaps during the time when kids arrive early; heaven forbid we have a stormy VBS day, but when it happens some improvising can be required; and extra activities can be helpful as follow up activities for kids to take home or to use on Sundays. Not every church is able to purchase the preschool activities, so some of the free printables here might provide some fun options.
Each of the resources below is available for download as a pdf file and/or image. In many cases, I have also provided the Canva Template Link so that you may edit the file to make it better meet your needs.
Please give me feedback regarding any issues with these resources as well as any additional resources you would find helpful.
DOT MARKER PAGES

Need dot markers? They can be a little pricey, but the decent ones last awhile. I found this set on Amazon—pretty good reviews and less expensive than a lot of the others.

Need an option that is even less messy? Cut off a strip of these 3/4″ circle labels and let the kids color their pictures with stickers and crayons.

ICEBREAKER COOTIE CATCHER!
COLOR BY NUMBER
Canva had some great color-by-number starters that I modified for Breaker Rock Beach. Here’s another option for extra time, snack time, dinner tables, rainy days, follow up events, etc. The jpg and pdf files are both available below.

DAILY COLORING PAGES

CREW LEADER THANK YOU CARDS & COLORING PAGES
Someone shared that they always have the kids color a page or make a card for their VBS leaders at the end of the week. I LOVE that idea! If time allows, kids can write or draw pictures on the 2-sided cards in addition to coloring them. Cardstock would be especially nice for these. For a quicker activity, the kiddos can decorate the coloring sheets instead. Either way, the leaders are sure to get warm fuzzies from the expressions of gratitude.

SEA ANIMAL CLOTHESPIN PUPPETS
(GREAT WAY TO PRACTICE A MEMORY VERSE!)
Here’s some cute on-theme fun for the preschoolers! 6 sea animal puppets await their imaginations. All you need are clothespins, crayons, glue and scissors (and the printouts, of course). These would be a great motivator for the kiddos to practice a memory verse too!

HANDPRINT PICTURES (FOR THE LITTLE ONES)

VOLUNTEER ICEBREAKER
Looking for something fun to break the ice at your training meeting? Here is a Breaker Rock Beach version of the classic Signature Scavenger Hunt game. Give everyone a sheet of paper, set at timer (based on your schedule), and watch everyone mix and mingle as they try to find 12 people who have done something on their list. Have fewer than 12 people? No biggie! Just let people sign the sheet twice. There’s a fun, colorful version as well as a more printer-friendly version.

Need to make edits to fit your context and your volunteers? Here’s the Canva Template Link for you.
Like it as is? The pdf is downloadable below.

COLORING BOOKMARKS
So I can hardly take credit for these. These are an every-so-slightly modified version of a template that was already available on Canva. I saw that a few of you were looking for bookmarks that kids could color as an extra activity after finishing their crafts. This gives you a simple option if you’d like something printable.

Amazon has these blank bookmarks if you wanted to let the kiddos write the Daily Point or verse and/or draw a picture of the Bible Story or a favorite memory from VBS. You could cut cardstock to make your own too!
